Now you can be a barbecue champion ... in your own back yard! Cookbook author and international barbecue competitor Ron "Rockin' Ronnie" Shewchuk is coming to Whistler to share his barbecuing and grilling secrets in an intensive two-day workshop brought to you by Dusty's Bar & Grill in Whistler, home of the Canadian Barbecue Championship, and Legends Hotel at Creekside.

DAY ONE: 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Secrets of Championship Barbecue

Photo - slathering on the barbecue sauceIn this all-day, hands-on workshop you'll learn how to cook traditional southern-style barbecue. We're talkin' real barbecue, cooked "low and slow" using charcoal, hardwood smoke and Rockin' Ronnie's unbeatable recipes, tips and techniques. Be sure to bring your appetite. Not only will you be cooking and eating succulent chicken and mouthwatering ribs, you'll be treated to a traditional barbecue lunch of North Carolina-style pulled pork sandwiches and Texas smoked beef brisket with all the trimmings. The workshop will end with a mini-barbecue contest, where workshop participants will get a chance to present their meat and have it judged according to the rules of the Kansas City Barbecue Society! Bring your charcoal- or wood-fired grill or smoker, your favorite knife, a pair of tongs, a cutting board and an apron. Each student will be provided with a half chicken, a half-rack of pork ribs and a copy of Rockin' Ronnie's new book, Barbecue Secrets. Cost (includes cookbook, light breakfast, barbecue lunch and two drinks) - $150 per person.

You'll learn how to make the best darn burgers you've ever tasted, as well as tips and techniques for grilling everything from vegetables, to meat and fish, all the way to dessert. Cost (includes cookbook, lunch, lots of tasty samples of Rockin's cooking, and one drink) - $75
